Torno Round — Solid Oak Hourglass Pedestal Dining Table

Sale price$6,000.00

The Torno Round begins where geometry ends. Its plateau is a wide disc of solid oak — grain running edge to edge, finish matte and open, surface warm and readable. But it is the pedestal that defines the piece. Carved from the same solid oak into a form that has no name in the furniture vocabulary — wider at the top, narrowing to a compressed waist, then swelling outward again into a broad, grounded base — the Torno's column is the intersection of two bowls facing each other, of two forces meeting at a point of maximum tension. The form is simultaneously stable and dynamic, grounded and in motion.

The grain of the oak follows the curve of the pedestal continuously — at the waist it reads as a tight, compressed pattern; at the shoulders and base it opens into broader, more relaxed lines. The texture of the surface is consistent throughout: a fine, even pattern of cut grain that makes the light move across the pedestal as you move around it. No two positions give the same reading. Monomatière absolute — plateau and pedestal are the same oak, the same finish, the same material intelligence applied to two very different geometric problems simultaneously.

Suited for 4 to 8 guests depending on diameter. The most formally resolved all-wood piece in the collection.

  • Materials & Construction
Species: Solid European white oak — natural warm tone, fine consistent grain
Pedestal form: Hourglass/double-bowl — CNC-roughed, hand-finished by lathe and chisel
    Finish: Hardwax oil — matte, food-safe, grain-open
Plateau edge: Softly rounded — continuous, no sharp transitions
Connection: Concealed threaded rod — zero visible hardware
Construction: Monomatière — plateau and pedestal same species and finish

  • Dimensions :  Ø140 x 76cm

The Torno Round sits between the Kukinto Oval (lobed organic pedestal) and the Joki Round (nervures sculptées) in the collection — same register of bois massif sculptural organique, but with a vocabulary that is simultaneously more geometric and more sensual. The hourglass form has ancient references (the vessel, the vase, the column) but in solid oak with no ornament it reads as entirely contemporary.
