The Siipi Rectangular Dining Table — Solid Walnut with Sculpted Double-Wing Base
The Siipi is built from a single conviction: that a dining table should look as extraordinary from the side as it does from above. The plateau — a slab of solid American black walnut with gently organic edges that preserve the ghost of the tree's natural form — is familiar territory for those who know the material. What sets the Siipi apart is what supports it.
Two sculptural wing bases in solid walnut, each one a continuous curved form that sweeps outward from a narrow waist before flaring to a broad, grounded footprint. The grain of each wing follows the curve of the wood — not applied, not veneered, but grown into the form. Seen from the end, the base describes a shape that evokes both motion and stillness simultaneously: a wing at rest, an arch under tension, a gesture frozen in hardwood.
"Siipi" means wing in Finnish — a name chosen for both the literal form and the spirit it conveys: something poised between the earth and flight.
