Palo Round — Patinated Metal & Solid Teak Dining Table
A round dining table built on a contrast: a hand-oxidised metal top over a solid teak base. The Ø 150 cm plateau is a disc of patinated steel/bronze alloy, worked with acid and heat to a mottled mineral surface that reads silver-grey in cool light and shifts toward bronze and green as the day moves — no two tops alike. At its centre, a flush eye-shaped inlay of natural teak or walnut breaks the metal with a single moment of warm grain.
At 150 cm it seats six to eight, carried on a double-cylinder teak pedestal with no legs or stretchers, so seating runs unbroken around the full circumference. The mass of the base is deliberate — it reads as permanent rather than light, and anchors a room without relying on scale. It suits a design-led dining room, a private-dining space, or a hospitality setting where the table is expected to hold its own as an object.
This is a table designed to change. The patinated surface is a living finish that keeps developing with light and use rather than staying fixed — a material that improves with age. The teak base is dense, oil-finished and built to last; the metal top is sealed to stabilise the patina while letting it breathe. Each piece is, by process, one of one.
Made to order. Diameter, inlay wood (teak or walnut) and patina register can be specified, and the piece adapted for residential or contract use. Trade and project quotations available on request.
