The Torio Rectangular Dining Table — Ribbed Cream Top with Double Aged Brass Cylinder Base
A rectangular dining table built on two aged-brass cylinder columns and a ribbed cream stone top. The columns rise from broad circular bases in brass left to develop its own warm, oxidised patina; between them and the top, a continuous white ribbon spirals upward — an Art Déco ébénisterie detail reinterpreted as both structure and ornament. The cream top is finished with fine horizontal ribs along its edge, giving it a weight and precision a smooth edge can't.
At 250 × 100 cm it seats eight to ten — a formal scale for a dedicated dining room or a private-dining setting rather than a casual corner. The twin cylinder bases sit inboard of the ends, so the long sides seat without obstruction, and the table is built to hold the centre of a room: it is the most overtly decorative, formal piece in the collection.
The cream surface is neither white nor ivory but a warmer plaster tone, and the ribbed edge catches raking light. The brass patina deepens over time rather than staying bright, so the table ages into its material rather than away from it — warm stone-toned top against aged brass, Art Déco in register and made to be the focal point.
