The Kaiku Dining Armchair — Fully Upholstered Open-Wing Back in Terracotta Velvet

The Kaiku does something few chairs dare to attempt: it makes colour structural. Upholstered from floor to crown in a single, unbroken terracotta velvet — legs, seat, arms, back — the chair reads as a monolithic sculpture before it reads as a piece of furniture. No wood grain, no metal accent, no contrasting material to interrupt the form. Just one colour, one texture, one decisive gesture.

The back is the design's defining move. Two open wings splay outward and upward from a central spine, creating negative space that lightens the silhouette while making the chair unmistakable from every angle. "Kaiku" means echo in Finnish — a reference to the way the two wings mirror each other, a visual resonance that gives the chair its personality.

The terracotta is chosen with intention. Against the warm amber of marble, the deep brown of walnut, or the cool grey of travertin, it reads as the room's warmest note — a colour that belongs to the earth and to the light at the same time. The velvet pile catches and releases light with every movement, making the chair subtly alive across the course of a dinner.
