Kulta Rect — Cast Brass Sculptural Monolith Dining Table

The Kulta Rect does not belong to the same conversation as the rest of the Maison Ilmarinen collection. Where the other pieces speak in the languages of craft, material honesty, and functional resolution, the Kulta speaks in the language of excess — deliberate, controlled, and entirely unapologetic. It is a table made entirely of cast and patinated brass, its surface worked to a texture that suggests volcanic topography, geological time, or the slow cooling of poured metal: organic, dense, and irreproducible by any industrial process.

The form is a truncated block — not a table with legs, not a table with a base, but a single volumetric object that happens to provide a horizontal plane at dining height. The plateau and the body are continuous. There is no visible joint between the top surface and the sides, no apron, no transition point that would communicate "this is where the table begins and the base ends." It begins and ends with itself. The sides are worked in a relief texture — fluid vertical ridges and valleys that catch the ambient light differently at every angle, creating a surface that is never flat, never static, and never the same table twice in the same room.

The brass patina is hand-applied: acid-based processes create the warm amber-gold baseline, which is then selectively polished to reveal brighter brass beneath the relief's high points. The result is a two-tone surface — golden amber in the recesses, mirror-bright at the crests — that intensifies in low light and reads as almost geological in strong directional light.

The Kulta Rect is the signature piece of the collection. It is a commission as much as a product. Each piece takes 16 to 20 weeks to produce and is signed and numbered by the studio. Suited for 6 to 10 guests. Available for residential and hospitality commissions
