oval-wood-dining-table-ruoko
Ruoko — Oval Pedestal Dining Table

A long dining table in solid oak, carried on two sculptural pedestals. The top is a long racetrack form — straight sides, fully rounded ends — with a slim undercut edge that makes a substantial slab of solid wood read light from every seat. Beneath it, two round pedestals of deep vertical flutes widen gently toward the floor and finish in a scalloped foot formed by the end of every flute: the same fluted language as the Joki and the Uoma, drawn out to the scale of a long table.

Ruoko — Finnish for reed — is built for the large gathering. The two pedestals are set well in from the ends, so the full length stays free for chairs and each rounded end takes a place without creating a head of the table. Offered for eight at 240 × 105 cm, ten at 280 × 110 cm and twelve at 320 × 115 cm, it is the long table of the collection: a family dining room, a villa, a country house or a private-dining space.

Three finishes. Natural Oak, pale honey and even-grained. Walnut, deep chocolate brown with fine straight grain. Ebonized Oak, deep matte black with the open grain still readable beneath the finish. All are finished in a matte hardwax oil that is refreshed rather than refinished. The construction is solid wood throughout: the top is joined from wide boards and held flat by concealed rails that let it move naturally with the seasons, and each pedestal is built from solid staves shaped around a conical core.

Made to order. Other dimensions, woods — or a natural stone top — can be studied on request for residential and contract projects. Trade and project quotations available.

A long solid wood double pedestal dining table for 8, 10 or 12, in natural oak, walnut or ebonized oak, suited to large dining rooms, villas, country houses and design-led interiors.
