oak-dining-table-rivi
Rivi — Colonnade Dining Table

A long dining table in solid wood, standing on eight turned columns. There is no apron, no stretcher, nothing running between the legs: two rows of four solid cylinders rise from the floor and meet the top through a slim, recessed neck of blackened steel, so that the top seems to float just above its colonnade. The top is joined from wide boards, its edge chamfered underneath so that a substantial slab of solid wood reads light from every seat. Rivi is Finnish for row.

The signature is at the floor. Each column stands on a thin disc of contrasting wood — pale oak beneath walnut and ebonized oak, dark walnut beneath natural oak — a quiet line of light repeated eight times that gives the base its rhythm.

Offered for eight at 240 × 105 cm, ten at 280 × 110 cm and twelve at 320 × 115 cm, in three finishes. Natural Oak, pale honey and even-grained. Walnut, deep chocolate brown with fine straight grain. Ebonized Oak, deep matte black with the open grain still readable beneath the finish. All are finished in a matte hardwax oil that is refreshed rather than refinished.

The lightness of the base is engineered. A steel frame recessed into the underside of the top ties the eight steel necks together, and each column is bored over a steel core, bonded and pinned, so the table stands rigid without a single visible rail. The top is held by slotted fixings that let the solid wood move naturally with the seasons, and every foot conceals an adjustable leveller.

Made to order in our workshop. Other dimensions and woods can be studied on request for residential and contract projects. Trade and project quotations available.

A long solid wood dining table on column legs for 8, 10 or 12, in natural oak, walnut or ebonized oak, suited to large dining rooms, lofts, villas and private dining spaces.
